I really believe that we as individuals need to spend a lot more time looking for and acknowledging the good in others. In my article, "People need to know they MATTER", I make reference to the fact that most people in this country go to bed most nights, "psychologically malnutritioned". In other words they are "starving" for a little bit of appreciation. It takes so little on our part to give others a sense of self-worth, sometimes something as simple as pass along a smile.
In July of this year I decided to start the Bob Koehler "AMAZING" PEOPLE AWARDS. This is a certificate that I send to people who I meet who I believe are "AMAZING".
The process includes a letter, describing why I think they are so AMAZING and a certificate which highlights their AMAZINGNESS.
I encourage them to have their certificate framed and hung somewhere where they can remind themselves of just how "AMAZING" they are.
